Vogue Magazine (1934) featured: Catharina ‘Toto’ Koopman (1908 – 1991)

Eurasian model of Dutch and Javanese descent. Said to be the first “biracial” model for Vogue. Worked as a model for Coco Chanel, and appeared regularly in the French Vogue in the 1930’s. Worked with designers and photographers such as: Rochas, Mainbocher, Madeleine Vionnet, Edward Steichen and George Hoyningen-Heune. Served as a spy in WWII.
