I am
Julian Bos, 27 years old, living in Nieuwegein, student, DJ, Promotor, and inter action designer
What is your cultural background?
I’m a mix from Indonesian and Dutch. My father is a mix from Ambon, Dutch and Indonesian. My mother is a mix of Indonesian and Dutch.
In terms of ethnicity / culture / identity how would you describe yourself?
Dutch, I feel like a real Dutchman but not a typical Dutch. Because I grew up here. I only speak Dutch, not Indonesian, I like Dutch food more than Indonesian food.
What aspects of your culture are most important to you?
The hospitality from our Indo culture. We are very open to other cultures and have a social behavior.
Has your cultural background influenced your life/ and or work – hobbies? And if it did could you give some examples?
In my life it has a big influence, because I like the presence of people around me. I have a lot of friends, from different cultures. The social aspects come back in my work, I have to do a lot of networking, here I can use my social aspects
In what language do you dream?
In Dutch
Earliest Memory?
When I was four I kidded out the front door.
I don’t know why I was angry and why I did it, but I can remember it very clearly.
Growing up you …
I was a quiet and shy person, until I went to the high school. At high school I hang out with the wrong people and became a little rebel. Now I found my balance, sometimes shy and sometimes a rebel. I partied a lot, I began to party when I was 14, and now I’m throwing my own partners. Sometimes it was hard when my parents divorced, I think that was a reason to hang out with the wrong people.
What most people don’t know about you is…
The people who know me after my 20th birthday, don’t know I was a good goal keeper.
Cannot live without?
Music and cigarettes
What inspires you?
Capitol city’s like Barcelona and New York. I like the concrete and abstract architecture of NY.
Currently working on?
A big event in The Hague, Utrecht and at the moment I’m designing a website for a company. And every weekend I’m DJ-ing with my partner in crime, Julian Pattinama
Best advice you’ve ever received?
Don’t look what you’re concurrences are doing, but look at what you can do better. This really inspired me.
What are you listening (music) to at the moment?
At the moment I’m listing to the album of Fetty Wap
If you ruled the world what would you do?
I would make it a better place, that everybody has enough food to eat and there will be no poverty.
Message to the world.
Be happy!
